In the latest Express Entry draw on July 7, 2023, over 2,300 invitations were sent out, primarily targeting candidates in the French-language skills sub-category within the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category.
1. To be eligible for this sub-category, one must achieve a minimum score of 7 in an official French language test. The minimum score for this targeted Express Entry draw was 439, which is the lowest score of the year.
2. Consequently, we may soon see more Express Entry draws of this kind following the announcement made in June by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) about the inclusion of new categories in the Express Entry system, including the French-language skills category. This creates more opportunities for French-speaking individuals to immigrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency.
It is important to note that public consultations are planned for this summer with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and the IRCC's targets for Francophone immigration in minority communities are expected to be announced this fall.
3. Therefore, there could be more opportunities for Francophone migrants wishing to settle in Canada through the Express Entry system.
